A realtor who allowed one of her clients to tour unaccompanied through a Maple Ridge property for sale has been fined $10,000. Richmond realtor Nancy "Nan" Wang of Metro Edge Realty agreed to the fine as professional discipline by the Superintendent of Real Estate, under the Real Estate Services Act. A consent order issued by the authority dated Nov.

6 details the citation against Wang for professional misconduct. It says that in July of 2021, she gave her Sentrilock access card directly to a prospective buyer, so they could access house keys. The prospective buyer then viewed the property without Wang or any other licenced real estate professional being present.

Afterward, the sellers reported to their own agent that they found their backdoor left open, and the front door was left unlocked. Their realtor contacted Wang, who falsely told the realtor that the buyer had been accompanied by an unlicensed assistant, who had used the Sentrilock card. Later, she admitted that was not true, and apologized to both the realtor and his clients.

Wang has no prior disciplinary history, having been working as a realtor since 2012. Her initial penalty was assessed at $20,000, however the superintendent agreed to lower it, in recognition of her taking remedial education, her acknowledgement, apology, and full cooperation with the investigation. Wang has three months to pay the fine, and failure to pay could result in her licence being suspended or cancelled.
