Manchester United have made one change to their starting line up to face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime. Ruben Amorim will hope to see an improvement from the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and has made one change to his side, with Alejandro Garnacho dropped for Manuel Ugarte. It means Rasmus Hojlund leads the line again, while Noussair Mazraoui continues at centre-back with Leny Yoro back on the bench, along with Christian Eriksen.
United named an inexperienced bench against Tottenham that included eight players who had never made a competitive appearance for the club before, with more academy youngsters on the bench at Goodison Park. Chido Obi, Sekou Kone and Elyh Harrison retain their places in the senior squad, along with Hubert Graczyk and Ayden Heaven. Speaking ahead of the match, head coach Amorim explained his team selection and why he had named Garnacho on the bench for their final trip to Goodison Park.
“We know that this is a completely different game from the last game against Tottenham,” Amorim told MUTV. “We will have to win a lot of duels, set-pieces will be important and then the momentum of the players, so we will try to do everything to win the game.” He added: “It’s really important [to have quality on the bench], especially with a player like Garnacho who can give us a different pace, more one-against-one, so we can change the game with these players and that is really important to win football matches.
” It marks the first time United have been below Everton heading into a Premier League fixture against them since David Moyes took charge of his final United match back in 2014. The Everton boss hopes to keep their resurgent run going, but is not getting carried away despite their impressive form. "I don't think there's been a huge secret.
It is just the players playing with more confidence," he told TNT Sports. "They've got a bit more confidence - wining gives you that great feeling. We have started to create a few more chances.
"I didn't want to be the manager who took Everton down and that's the pressure as a manager. We are not safe yet. But the results we've had have been great.
