Sir Peter Leitch is enjoying retirement after stepping back from public life and overcoming health scares. At 81, he remains a devoted Warriors fan but attends fewer games due to mobility issues. Leitch credits positivity and a strong social circle for his well-being, despite memory fading.

Sir Peter Leitch is enjoying a slower pace of life after hanging up his meat cleaver – and is grateful just to be alive after health scares had him worried the end of his life was nigh. Lovingly known as the Mad Butcher, Sir Peter has now largely stepped away from public life . He retains his natural effervescence and straight-talking persona but admits his memory is fading now at 81.



And while he’ll be a fan of his beloved New Zealand Warriors “‘til the day I die”, he can no longer get to Mt Smart Stadium to watch them as often as he used to..
