Reader's View: What happened to patriotism?

To quote President Theodore Roosevelt: “Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president.” And to quote President Dwight D.

Eisenhower: “Should any political party attempt to abolish Social Security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again.” There is no apparent rule of law with President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Vice President J.D.

This is bad considering most of the people in D.C. could be running the country while suffering with dementia.

The world must be in disbelief and may never trust the U.S. again.

may stand alone. Now, the MAGA team is threatening to shut down Social Security offices. I am a senior and a middle-class taxpayer, and guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut.

Companies owned by Musk, who’s not an elected official, made roughly $8 million per day from government contracts in fiscal year 2023. Imagine supporting a man costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars to go golfing. Then imagine being a middle-class American who cannot afford eggs, gas, or health insurance but who still supports the man wasting tens of millions of taxpayers’ dollars to go golfing.
