I am not a paid agitator. I am a hardworking small-business owner, taxpaying U.S.
citizen, voter, and constituent of Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District. I am looking for my Rep. Pete Stauber to attend an in-person town hall to explain his positions to us, the citizens he “represents.
” Stauber has not voiced concerns over the proposed gutting of the Department of Education. Those federal dollars flow through our public schools and fund critical programs. Ask any school administrator and they will tell you those funds are necessary for our schools to reach their full potential.
ADVERTISEMENT Stauber is not voicing concerns over the potential dismantling of the Social Security Administration. Closures of Social Security locations in the district would place an extra burden on our seniors to get the benefits they’ve earned and need to maintain their way of life. Stauber has been silent on the disintegration of Veterans Affairs.
Our veterans deserve easy access to health care and other critical services. If there are VA offices closing in District 8, that would only make that treatment more difficult on our veterans who served our country. Stauber has not adequately addressed recent announcements of layoffs at Minorca and Hibbing Taconite.
There is uncertainty in the marketplace directly caused by President Donald Trump’s tariffs. Whatever Cleveland-Cliffs and Stauber say about these layoffs, everyone knows job losses are a direct result of Trump’s tariffs. These layoffs may only be the beginning.
I’ve lived in the Aurora community for 27 years. To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t a billionaire in District 8. Stauber does not represent our way of life; he represents Trump’s and his billionaire advisors’ way of life.
The constituents of District 8 have real concerns and questions. We need real representation, and Stauber is not doing his job. Stuart Blee Aurora ADVERTISEMENT Email submissions to: letters@duluthnews.
