If going on a police ride along is a “triggering, traumatic experience” that would prevent people from seeking seats on Portland’s new police accountability board, so be it, (“ A required police ride-along for members of Portland’s new police accountability board prompts judge to promise: I’ll come, too ,” Aug. 29). Portland police absolutely need public accountability - for the good of the public and the police - but absolutely no person should sit in judgment of the police if that person is not willing to observe police doing their jobs.
