RDA says 49pc work of Rawalpindi Ring Road completed

Rawalpindi - Brigadier (Retd.) Babar Alauddin, Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military), chairperson of the Chief Minister Punjab’s Inspection, Surveillance, and Monitoring Directorate, here on Saturday visited the Rawalpindi Ring Road project to review the ongoing work. He was accompanied by Staff Officer Abdul Jabbar Bhatti, Colonel Junaid Farooqi, and Abdullah Babar.

Muhammad Anwar Baran, chief engineer of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), welcomed the delegation, said RDA press release. During the visit, Babar Alauddin was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the Ring Road project at the FWO camp office in Khalisa Khurd. He was provided with updates on the current progress and the milestones achieved so far.



Appreciating the ongoing efforts, he said that the project was initiated under the leadership of former prime pinister Nawaz Sharif and is now moving towards its completion under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He emphasized that the project would bring significant benefits to the region and termed it an important gift from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to the people of Rawalpindi. Commissioner reviews Vaisakhi festival preparations Babar Alauddin further stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is committed to the speedy completion of the project, which will reduce traffic congestion in Rawalpindi and create employment opportunities for the local population.

Chief Engineer RDA Muhammad Anwar Baran briefed the chairperson on the current status of the project and informed that 49% of the work on the 38.3-kilometer the road has been completed. Brigadier Babar appreciated RDA’s efforts and called the progress commendable.

Additionally, the chairman issued strict instructions for action against illegal housing schemes and unauthorized constructions in Rawalpindi. He emphasized the importance of adhering to legal standards in urban development projects to ensure organized city growth. He also mentioned that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the demolition of illegal structures and made it clear that unlawful constructions will not be tolerated.

The RDA chief engineer confirmed that these steps are being taken to ensure that development projects in Rawalpindi align with legal standards. The RDA, in coordination with local enforcement agencies, is sealing and demolishing illegal constructions.

He added that developers and citizens are encouraged to comply with all regulations to avoid legal complications. On the occasion, Babar Alauddin planted a tree and prayed for the security and prosperity of the country. He urged citizens to actively participate in the tree plantation campaign to make the country green and prosperous.
