RB Leipzig star man Xavi Simons will miss their UEFA Champions League showdown with Celtic after manager Marco Rose revealed he has undergone ankle surgery. Celtic face the German side, who soared to the top of the Bundesliga with a 3-1 win over Freiburg on Saturday, next in the competition. Although, they have lost all three of their Champions League games so far.
And they will have to travel to Glasgow on November 5 without key man Simons after the one-time Rangers target injured his ankle in their defeat to Liverpool last week. The on loan PSG man, who is valued at £80million, underwent surgery and will be missing until the turn of the year. Rose said: "We hope that Xavi will recover well.
He has had surgery for ankle ligament damage. He is obviously a large part of the team and his loss is a bitter blow for us." Simons has scored three goals for Leipzig in the 11 games he's played for them so far.
