By Odilia Minut PARISHIONERS of Rapopo parish visited the pediatrics and maternity ward of the Vunapope Hospital on Christmas Day (Dec 25) as a way of reviving the Catholic tradition of giving on a special day. This Christmas, executives of the proposed Rapopo parish made their Christmas meaningful by visiting and praying over the patients in the children’s and maternity ward. Representing the parish were the executives with mothers and children of St Cecilia and St Francis Bikpla Liklik Kommuniti (BKK).
Jacinta Lera executive and president of St Cecilia BKK said this visit was meaningful to them as giving to others on a special day like Christmas brings nothing but joy in the reflection of Christ. “To make this day more meaningful, we visited the children and maternity ward where babies are born as a symbol of Jesus’s birth in a crib,” she said. She also added by saying that there is no other joy in Christmas than the happiness that comes from giving to others.
Sr Lucy Kanave the nurse in charge of the Pediatrics ward thanked the parishioners for making time available to visit the 5 children who were admitted in the Children’s ward. “I am grateful to everyone present here today for making time available to visit them on this special day” She also gave her word of appreciation and said that most of the patients were discharged before Christmas , however, they are grateful that the parishioners took time out of their festive celebrations to put a smile on those in their sickbeds..
