Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest project, the Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, captivated audiences earlier this year, and now the excitement is building for his next venture, Love and War. The film brings together an impressive cast, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. According to industry insiders, the film is set to begin production soon.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “After Heeramandi, there is keen anticipation for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next Love and War. Apart from the out-of-the-box title, the casting of Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky has constantly kept the film in the news. The movie will finally go on floors from October 24 and that will mark the beginning of the first schedule.

” Though the length of the first schedule hasn’t been disclosed, it’s expected to be an extensive one, in line with Bhansali’s detailed and perfectionist approach to filmmaking. Love and War will mark Vicky Kaushal’s first collaboration with Bhansali, while Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are no strangers to the director’s work. Ranbir made his acting debut in Bhansali’s Saawariya (2007), alongside Sonam Kapoor, and Alia starred in the 2022 hit Gangubai Kathiawadi.

The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 20, 2026.The film’s release date will coincide with major festivals like Ramzan, Ram Navami, and Gudi Padwa, reaping the benefits of the holiday season. Previously in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Alia Bhatt expressed her excitement about the project.

“There are so many layers to look forward to, that I don’t know which one to pick. First and foremost, the pleasure and honour of working with Sanjay sir, once again, under his guidance and gaze, flourish is step number one. You can go anywhere with it because of his attention to detail and his attention to you,” Alia said.

But as an audience member, Alia said she is eager to see her husband, Ranbir Kapoor in the film. “I, as an audience, am more excited to see him [Bhansali] and Ranbir collaborate, again, after so many years. I am like, ‘Wow, what’s that going to be like?” Talking about reuniting with Vicky Kaushal, Alia added, “Vicky and I coming together again; Ranbir and Vicky created magic with Sanju.

So, it is a lot of combinations.”.
