Upasana Konidela discussed overcoming gender disparity in her family, emphasising effective communication and sharing pride in their progress. While Ram Charan is one of the biggest superstars in the country, his wife, Upasana Konidela, is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. In several interviews, the actor often credits her for being a major support system in his life.
Ram Charan hails from a well-known film family, so much is known about his formative years. However, that’s not quite the case for Upasana. She recently opened up about witnessing gender disparity during her childhood, adding that it was quickly nipped in the bud.
She further mentioned how her family progressed in the later years and now believes in effective communication which helped bring about the change. Upasana Konidela reflected on her family while speaking at The Masoom Minawala Show. When asked if she ever faced gender disparity in her family, she admitted, “Yes, I did see it.
And luckily, it was nipped in the bud." She further added, “The girls in our family were very strong — they stood up for themselves and asked for their rightful share. I’m happy to say that today, our family treats women and men equally, and I’m very, very proud of that.
" Upasana shared that the art of communication that was taught to them by her grandparents. “Even now, if there’s something unpleasant or sour, we say it — we speak up. Some people tend to hold things within, but I believe that the ones who are able to talk about it are the ones who benefit the most," she said.
On another note, Upasana married her school friend, Ram Charan, in a dreamy wedding ceremony in Hyderabad in June 2012. They welcomed their first child, baby girl Klin Kaara in June 2023. After her child’s birth, she openly spoke about freezing her eggs at the right time to allow them ample time to make a conscious decision while planning a family.
