The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, OR, has issued a comprehensive outlook that indicates rain is going to be the central theme for the coming days. Starting today, after 11 am, we can expect persistent showers with a near certain chance of precipitation.
The high for today is projected to hover around 49 degrees with a noticeable south southwest wind carrying gusts upwards of 26 mph, as reported by NWS' latest update.As for tonight, the rainfall isn't letting up before 10 pm, and it's likely to drench the city with up to half an inch of precipitation. Winds are expected to shift slightly, coming from the south southeast direction at around 8 mph, subsiding after midnight but still capable, of gusts peaking at 20 mph.
The temperature will drop to a low in the neighborhood of 41 degrees.Moving into Sunday, the rain continues with another 100% chance of precipitation and daytime highs nudging just above today's at 50 degrees. Wind speeds will slow down a bit, coming in from the south southwest at a gentler 6 to 8 mph.
NWS forecasts suggest that up to a quarter of an inch of new rainfall could accumulate throughout the day.Sunday night might grant a slight reprieve, with rain likely mainly before 11 pm and snow levels descending to 2100 feet after the witching hour. Despite the declining chance of precipitation, set at 70%, the city won't escape the dreary ambiance, as cloud cover persists and temperatures fall to a chilly 37 degrees.
Winds will mellow further, clocking in at 3 to 7 mph from the same southerly direction, the night presents a marginally drier atmosphere but one not quite free of rainfall's embrace.Looking into next week, the weather pattern remains consistent with rain anticipated again on Monday afternoon, and a snow level starting low at 1900 feet before lifting later in the day. By Tuesday we see a slight drop in the chance of rainfall to 50%, with partly sunny skies making a tentative appearance.
However, don't put your umbrellas away just yet. Predictions for midweek reveal potential rain after 11 am Wednesday and a steady continuation of rainfall through to the end of the week, culminating with showers punctuating every day up until Friday. NWS has advised locals to expect a high around 52 degrees amidst the downpours.
