THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain will continue in the state today. Yellow alert has been announced in four districts including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Palakkad. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast.
Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Malappuram district in the next three hours and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph. The rain will continue in the coming days. A yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on Friday and Saturday.
The Cyclone is located above the Straits of Mannar and Sri Lanka. The cyclonic gyre is located in the middle of the South Bay of Bengal and in the middle of the South Arabian Sea. Due to this, there is a possibility of light/moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala for the next five days, the Meteorological Center has warned.
The Indian Meteorological Department has informed that there will be no disruption to fishing in Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today..
