The jet stream will stay active for the rest of 2024. Every day through the New Year will have some on-and-off precipitation for parts of Indiana.

INDIANA, USA — The rest of 2024 looks wet for Indiana, with multiple storm systems bringing rain on-and-off. Temperatures should stay above the freezing mark the rest of the year too, making sure that all precipitation chances look like rain and not snow. Our next flurry chance arrives New Year's Day, Jan.

We are in a very progressive pattern with lots of dips in the jet stream. With so many active kinks in the jet stream, the rate at which storm systems pass over you increases. We have lots of low pressures heading toward Indiana.

Thursday: Isolated rain on-and-off all day (40% rain chance) Friday: Scattered rain (90% rain chance) Saturday: Isolated rain showers (30% rain chance) Sunday: Rain east, clouds west (50% rain chance) Monday: Rain after sunset (20% rain chance) Tuesday New Year's Eve: (40% rain chance) We will not dip below freezing until January 1st or 2nd, so all these chances will just be liquid. Most of Indiana is damp after light rain showers through much of Christmas evening and night. The highest rainfall totals were in eastern Indiana.

Our next storm system is coming in from Texas. It will bring scattered rain on Friday. There will be breaks, but there may be some heavier bouts of rain at times.

South winds should keep us in the 50s, even though we have thick clouds and rain chances likely. Scattered showers are likely to bring another half inch to 1 inch of rain by Sunday late evening. This accounts for rain showers starting Thursday morning.
