The Seattle Seahawks are a team in transition this offseason after they parted ways with Geno Smith and DK Metcalf via trade, and released Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons with the team. To replace those three, the Seahawks signed Sam Darnold, Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to join an offense that also includes breakout wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Of course, Seattle traded Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, but he wasn't the only team the Raiders were apparently interested in.
According to Hondo Carpenter of Sports Illustrated, Las Vegas also inquired about running back Kenneth Walker. “You may remember, I talked to you about the fact, (the Raiders) were trying to trade for a running back. And word kind of leaked and eventually got out.
It was Kenneth Walker,” he said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast . The Raiders' interest in Walker makes sense. After all, Las Vegas had the worst rushing attack in the league last season and has a shaky running backs room currently, with the team sporting Raheem Mostert, who is set to turn 33, Zamir White, who failed to establish himself as a viable starter in 2024, and unproven players like Sincere McCormick and Dylan Laube.
It's not outlandish to think that Walker could be moved at some point this year. The former second-round pick is supremely talented but is also entering the final year of his rookie contract and is coming off an injury-plagued season that saw him miss six games. Walker missed two games in each of the previous two seasons, as well.
With Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh, both of whom flashed in 2024, the Seahawks might have the horses already on the roster to replace him. Furthermore, the 2025 NFL Draft has a strong running back class, so Seattle could add another one that way. It isn't clear how far along the two sides got in talks about Walker, but clearly the Seahawks aren't exactly ready to trade the 24-year-old.
