Rahul Gandhi allows Gaurav Gogoi to lead charge

Rahul Gandhi passed the opportunity to speak on the waqf bill in Lok Sabha to his deputy Gaurav Gogoi, who then led the opposition's charge. Gandhi instead chose to sit for other speeches, raising questions about whether he missed a chance to counter BJP's polarisation politics.

Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday passed on the baton on the waqf bill to his deputy Gaurav Gogoi , giving him the opportunity to speak on the legislation that became a national headline and appears set to dominate the discourse in the coming days. Gogoi led the charge for the opposition, with Rahul in attendance. Later, Rahul sat for other speeches, including that of his aide KC Venugopal.

His leaving the stage for colleagues left many wondering whether he could have availed of the opportunity to sharpen his opposition to BJP's "politics of polarisation". Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi too did not speak. TNN.
