A team of RAF critical care nurses joined a group of firefighters at Rewley Road Fire Station to take part in training last week.

On Wednesday, April 2, the nurses, who are based at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, joined Rewley Road Fire Station's Red Watch. Against the clock, they were faced with a hazardous scenario and tasked with stopping two dangerous, volatile gases from mixing with each other. The scenario was made more challenging by the restrictive firefighter kit they were wearing, poor radios, and bad visibility in the danger area.

However, the crew worked well together to resolve the situation using their leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Afterwards, both the firefighters and nurses sat down for a catch-up and a chat about their different jobs and why it is essential to work as a team. Rewley Road Fire Station said: "Thanks to the team for joining us and being such good sports.
