R Madhavan's second Bollywood film was Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, directed by Ananth Mahadevan. As the film completes 22 years, Zoom caught up with he lead actor R Madhavan for a quick chat about the film. What does Dil Vil Pyar Vyar(DVPV) remind you of? It reminds me of the fond memories of my early days.

The excitement of realizing that I am part of this wonderful industry now, the nervousness and the butterflies in the stomach, the putting up of a brave façade and trying to steer the project towards what you think is best for you.. .

yet respecting everybody’s decisions and hoping for the best. Then there is the fight. The fight? The fight between instinct and experience, learning the lessons very quickly and at times painfully.

.. forming of new friends and relationships that were to stand a test of time over 20 years.

It was all happening then. ..

only now the nervousness and the butterflies in the stomach have become unbearable and worse and to think I thought it was going get easier ...

Ha ha ha. How wrong I was! Coming to Dil Vil Pyar Vyar? That was a musical milestone. All of us in the cast, Sanjay Suri , Jimmy Shergill, and I got to sing R D Burman’s imperishable songs.

We would bicker over who gets to sing which song. You once told you enjoyed your second Hindi film Dil Vil Pyar Vyar more than your first Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein? Did I? That was because Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein was a remake of my Tamil hit hence repetitive. Dil Vil Pyar Pyar was original and therefore more exciting.

| EXCLUSIVE How was it original when it was based on R D Burman’s classics? The concept of stringing the plot around RD’s songs was unique. All of us had so much fun. My costar Namrata Shirodkar is now far away from Bollywood happily married to the great Mahesh Babu.

Your roles were similar to the ones Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan played in Abhimaan? Yes come to think of it, there was an element of Abhimaan in our relationship. But Amitji and Jayaji were in a league of their own. Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Bollywood, Entertainment News and around the world.
