A Queensland kinesiologist accused of rape has been arrested in Thailand and is being extradited to Australia after he allegedly fled two years ago. Helio Taiyang Richardson, 62, was arrested at a resort on Koh Phangan island, with Thai media sharing footage of the arrest. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Queensland man arrested in Thailand.

Richardson was charged with rape in Queensland in 2018 and reportedly left Australia while facing charges in 2022. Richardson arrived back in Sydney on Thursday morning ahead of his to Queensland.



Queensland Police Service said it was working with international and national partner agencies on the extradition of a 62-year-old man back to Australia..
