Earlier this week, the Queen and King celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, an occasion that coincided with an official trip to Italy. With both those events occurring at the same time, there has been renewed speculation about the couple at the head of the royal household and how their relationship dynamic has changed over two decades of marriage.
Speaking about the couple, both Daily Mail's Diary Editor Richard Eden and royal biographer Robert Hardman commented on how they interact with each other and send little signals to let each other know what they’re thinking. In one case, Robert said the Queen is used as a bridge between the entourage and the King as a way to get him to stop talking to the general public. He said: “When the King talks for too long to people in a crowd, he does love a chat, and everyone’s looking at their watches, the entourage are looking quite nervous.
“No-one wants to go up to him and go ‘Sir, can you get a move on?’. They’ll whisper to the Queen. “And the Queen has this very sweet where she’ll just gently nudge him in the small of his back with the corner of her handbag and the symbol to kind’ve ‘Cmon let’s get a move on’.
” Queen Camilla, King Charles, and the Pope Fellow royal commentator Richard Eden also weighed on how the King and Queen had been able to make their multi-decade marriage a success, remarking that one clue had come from the Queen’s sister Annabel Elliot. He explained: “The thing she highlighted was the Queen’s sense of humour. So she said ‘They’ve been the same ever since they were little girls’, their dad had to separate them in church because they were always giggling.
“She enjoys a good laugh with the King and, just as Queen Elizabeth did, they love it when things go wrong. Not taking things too seriously and also the fact that they’re not competing. Not for a moment is Queen Camilla trying to upstage the King or anything like that.
” While some royal commentators have been remarking on the secret to the King and Queen’s long and happy relationship, another has been revealing that the monarch put’s a secret ingredient into his coffee. Speaking to Coffee Friend, former royal butler Grant Harrold said: "The King has famously said he prefers to have honey instead of sugar, so he would opt for that instead. It actually isn’t too bad!” Queen Camilla and King Charles Mr Harrold also spoke about the coffee habits of other senior royals and their views on whether they preferred tea or coffee, reports the Daily Express .
He said: “The late Queen , Prince Philip, and King Charles definitely prefer a cup of tea over coffee. They were tea lovers to the very end. “They probably had coffee from time to time, but tea was their go-to.
The only time I saw the Queen having a freshly brewed cup of coffee was after an event in the evening time.” “Queen Camilla is fond of a cup of coffee, as are William and Harry. "I never heard any of them say they couldn’t live without coffee.
But Camilla, William and Harry are the ones who love coffee the most within the Royal Family.” Story Saved You can find this story in My Bookmarks. Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.
