Article content For the third consecutive Friday, the 3,000 workers in provincially run daycares have delayed starting their workday by several hours. The work action, in which the daycares open only at 10 a.m.
, is being carried out by workers represented by the Fédération des intervenantes en petite enfance (FIPEQ). The strike mandate calls for the start of Friday operations to be increasingly delayed each week there is no progress on contract talks. Failing an agreement, next Friday the daycares will not open before noon.
The main sticking points in negotiations are salaries, workloads and organization of work. An an entry-level daycare worker makes $21.60 an hour while one at the 10th level of seniority makes $28.
