Qatar tribune Tribune News Network Doha Qatar University (QU)’s Transportation and Traffic Safety Centre, along with TRANSDEM from the University of Aegean, hosted its second workshop on the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) initiative, a groundbreaking project aimed at developing an integrated, efficient transportation ecosystem tailored to Qatar’s specific needs and sponsored by the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council. The workshop brought together 35 representatives from diverse institutions and businesses, including the Ministry of Transport, Ooredoo, Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre (QMIC), Ashghal, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Muhel Consulting, and several departments from QU. The participants actively took part in group discussions and brainstorming sessions about the future of MaaS in Qatar.

Participants engaged in brainstorming sessions designed to explore innovative business models and gain valuable insights from key stakeholders and end-users. The central theme was creating a MaaS system that offers accessible, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions for everyone in Qatar. The MaaS initiative, titled ‘Development of a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) Ecosystem within Qatar’s Context,’ is a visionary project designed to revolutionize transportation by creating a seamless, multimodal mobility platform for users across the country.

The second workshop focused on two critical objectives: gaining insights from end-users and stakeholders and generating innovative business models for the MaaS ecosystem. The workshop discussions highlighted the need to create a MaaS ecosystem customized for the local context. Participants examined how to integrate different transportation modes to improve the user experience, emphasizing the goal of delivering accessible, efficient, and innovative mobility solutions that provide significant value to end-users.

Dr. Shimaa Ali Al-Quradaghi, director of QU’s Transportation and Traffic Safety Centre, expressed excitement about the ongoing collaborative efforts, stating, “This workshop represents a significant step in achieving Qatar’s vision for a smart, integrated, and sustainable transport system. The MaaS initiative holds outstanding promise for transforming mobility in Qatar by merging different transportation modes into a seamless, user-friendly, and efficient service.

We are committed to working with our partners to refine these concepts and implement solutions that will serve the entire community.” Copy 10/09/2024 10.
