KUALA LUMPUR: Putra Heights residents, whose homes were affected by Tuesday's gas pipeline explosion, will be given a one-off, 100 per cent rebate on their Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) electricity bill for a month. The charges will be calculated from the affected customers' March 2025 bill, with the amount credited to their April 2025 electricity bill.TNB, announcing this today, said this was a preliminary effort by the company to ease the burden of affected customers as part of its 'Bantuan Kebakaran TNB' (TNB Fire Relief Assistance) corporate social responsibility programme.

The company said it would also waive any reconnection charges for electricity supply to the affected homes, and would not implement any late payment surcharge for the current bill."TNB will also work with the relevant authorities and registered contractors to carry out wiring inspections to ensure that the electrical systems in the affected homes are in good and safe condition. "A service counter has also been set up near the police operations room starting April 2 to assist affected users in obtaining electricity-related support services," it said in a statement.

TNB officials, it said, would be contacting all affected customers to arrange the necessary assistance. "Customers can also contact TNB's Head of Customer Relations, Mr Thava, at 012-6060954 for more information," it said.TNB said it will continue to assess the assistance initiatives from time to time, based on the prevailing needs and remained committed to continuously monitor the electricity supply in the affected area to ensure the safety and comfort of residents.
