Members of The English Civil War Society paid a visit to the private school in Park Road to talk about the war and show boys replicas of costumes and weapons used in the 17th century conflict. The school's website said: "The Second Year history pupils were treated to an English Civil War living history morning, which ties in with the course they are studying: ‘Who made Britain – rulers, religion or rebels?’ "They engaged with the ideological causes behind the war as well as battle tactics, daily life for soldiers and some riveting displays from the reenactors. "Much fun was had by all!" Abingdon School moved to its Park Road site in 1870 and was founded hundreds of years before that - its origins date back beyond 1256.
The visit from the society took place earlier this month..
