VEHARI - On the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif vibrant celebrations of Punjab Culture Day and Sports Gala were held across various educational institutions in Vehari. Students enthusiastically participated in activities that beautifully highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. Events took place at University of Education Lahore Vehari Campus, Government Boys and Girls Graduate Colleges, Government MC Girls High School, Govt Girls High School 57/WB, Special Education School, Rehman Nursing College, and other institutions.
Activities included cultural stalls, traditional attire, folk music, Punjabi cuisine, rural and urban lifestyle representations, and inter-student sports competitions. At Government Boys Graduate College, MPA Mian Saqib Khurshid inaugurated the cultural ceremony alongside Principal Syed Ghulam Muhammad Bukhari. A symbolic ribbon-cutting and the presentation of a traditional turban to the chief guest were part of the event.
Students set up cultural stalls and performed bhangra, showcasing authentic Punjabi traditions. The presence of former principals, senior faculty, and students made the event remarkable. Distinguished guests across all venues included MPA Mian Saqib Khurshid, MPA & Standing Committee Chairman Malik Nosher Anjum Langrial, Assistant Commissioner Ghazala Kanwal, CEO Education Nasir Aziz, Principal Prof Dr Sheikh Israr Ahmed, DEO Shazia Anwar, Advocate Mian Nairab Khurshid, CEO Rehman Nursing College Ghulam Mustafa Malik, and many notable educationists and community leaders.
India’s Strategic Limits Speakers appreciated the students’ creativity and commitment to cultural heritage, noting that Punjab’s culture symbolizes love, unity, hospitality, and moral values. They emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities in the intellectual and physical development of students and expressed that such events are a vital part of preserving and promoting regional identity.
