Punjab became the first team to register two 400+ totals in the same Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament, after it posted 426 for four against Hyderabad on Friday in Ahmedabad. Punjab’s first-innings effort was powered by a hundred from opener Prabhsimran Singh, who was backed by quickfire fifties from Abhishek Sharma and Ramandeep Singh. Punjab had slammed 424 for five in a win against Saurashtra earlier in the tournament.

Against Hyderabad, at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ground ‘A’, Motera, Prabhsimran set the stage for Punjab with fierce boundary striking. The right-handed batter smashed 20 fours and three sixes as he put on a 196-run opening stand with Abhishek. Ramandeep, along with Nehal Wadhera applied the finishing touches to lift Punjab beyond 400 for the second consecutive game.
