Pune: The city's day temperature on Sunday did not report a staggering rise, with Lohegaon recording 40.8° C and Shivajinagar 38.5° C — above normal by 3° C and 0.

7° C, respectively. Meanwhile, the rural areas of the district on Sunday evening received light rainfall. Talegaon Dabhade recorded 10mm, Nimgiri 7mm, Ballalwadi 4.

5mm and Girivan recorded 0.5mm rainfall. The city experienced sunny weather conditions throughout the day, however, cloudy conditions prevailed in the evening hours.

Some parts even experienced thunderstorms and lightning for some time. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials attributed this to local weather conditions. SD Sanap, a scientist at IMD, Pune, told TOI, "The city's day temperatures reduced by 2-3° compared to last week.

This condition is expected to remain for the next few days. At present, there is no weather system over the state, so no massive weather changes are expected for the coming week." Talking about the rainfall, Sanap said, "It occurred sporadically because of excessive heat in the daytime.

Clouds were formed due to local conditions, so a particular region received rainfall." Sanap said there is no possibility of rainfall across the district in the next few days. Met officials said night temperatures will remain above normal by 2-3° C.

Shivajinagar and Lohegaon recorded 21.4° C and 22.5° C — above normal by 1.

These conditions are likely to be experienced for the next few weeks," said an IMD official. A similar weather pattern was observed in the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions. In Marathwada, only Parbhani recorded over 40° C, with the mercury touching 40.
