Public toilets have been transformed following an arson attack. The facilities in Roderick Avenue, Peacehaven, have undergone a complete refurbishment, including the addition of disability support features and new baby-changing units. Councillor Wendy Maples, Lewes District Council's cabinet member for neighbourhood wellbeing, said: "These facilities have undergone a proper overhaul and are greatly improved.

"We understand how important clean and accessible public toilets are to our community and this refurbishment is part of our commitment to providing facilities that meet public needs." The renovations also include enhanced security measures, overhead lighting and new bicycle stands. Outside, native wild thyme has been planted near the bike racks as a "test bed" to see if low-maintenance native plants can be used to enhance, and in some cases, replace hardstanding to improve both appearance and drainage without increasing costs.
