ISLAMABAD - The Political Committee of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday strictly refrained the party offi-cials from making adverse statements against one another. The meeting noted that violators would face show-cause notices, and those holding party positions would be stripped of their responsibilities. The development comes after PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and the party Secretary General Salman Akram Raja exchanged hot words against each other over getting access to jailed former prime minis-ter Imran Khan.
The Political Committee emphasised that as per Khan’s instructions, those who would meet with him must submit written details of his instructions to the party’s secretary information, au-thorising him to issue these written instructions and statements. The meeting that was attended by the senior leadership unanimously decided that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals Bill would only sail through the provincial assembly after thorough consultations and with the formal ap-proval and confidence of the PTI founding chairman Imran Khan. The participants discussed the contro-versial Mines and Minerals Bill, which has been introduced in the KP Assembly.
During the meeting, Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur gave a comprehensive and detailed briefing on all key aspects of the bill.PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram, in a statement, said that the Political Commit-tee reviewed all dimensions of the draft bill threadbare and unanimously agreed that the proposed law did not contain any clause undermining provincial autonomy, or transferring the right of mineral resources to the federation, Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), or any other federal institu-tion.He said that during the meeting, it was agreed that positive suggestions from all stakeholders would be welcomed and consultation with other parliamentary parties would continue so as to evolve wide-range consensus before the final approval of the bill.
Waqas stated that the bill has already been presented in the KP Assembly and was under discussion; however, it would only be approved from the legislature after obtaining Khan’s formal approval and fully aligning it with his agenda, manifesto, narrative and public aspirations. He made it clear that there has been no haste in approval of this bill, nor will there be any in the future.
