Read More The Pakistan Super League management have taken the call regarding the upcoming season’s matches to be scheduled one hour after the start of the Indian Premier League matches to ensure that there is minimal clash in airtime between both the games. The league’s CEO, Salman Naseer shared in a podcast that the matches would begin at 8:00 PM which is an hour after the IPL games which begin at 7:00 PM. It is the first instance where both the leagues are clashing in the same window.
Naseer mentioned that they had no option but to play this season at April-May due to the packed schedule earlier which had the Champions Trophy 2025. “It is not an ideal situation but we are confident that the PSL has its own fan base and will attract the usual eyeballs," Naseer said. “The PSL has always produced quality competitive cricket and this year also we should see the same and cricket fans anywhere, at the end of the day, just want to see competitive, entertaining matches," he said.
In addition, with PSL coming in for the 10th season, they have also made improvements to the broadcast quality as well. Naseer also feels that there is an advantage with the PSL coming in the same window as the IPL with several stars that went unsold in the IPL were able to come in. There have also been inquiries regarding two new teams being added to the tournament next year as well.
Naseer also commented on the strained relationship between franchise owners and the PSL management and he feels that it was not appropriate to leave this information out in public. “Look we would think that all franchises have benefited from their association with the PSL over the years. But we also feel that instead of going public it would be best if they spoke and communicated to us directly on any issues they might have.
" Naseer said all franchise owners now would be given revised fees for the next 10 years and all had the right to accept the PCB offer or decide otherwise. The first match of PSL 10 will be between Islamabad United against the Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 11 (Friday). (with PTI Inputs).
