MARDAN - Like other parts of the province, religious political parties held protest rallies here on Friday to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people and to condemn the atrocities committed by Israeli forces against innocent children and women. The rally began at Bagh Masjid and turned into a protest gathering in front of the Commissioner House after Friday prayers. It was organized by Sipah-e-Sahaba, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Alami Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nabuwwat, and other religious parties.

The protesters were led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Mardan District Ameer Maulana Amanat Shah Haqqani, General Secretary Mufti Hamadullah Yousafzai, Maulana Muhammad Ali Shah, JI Ameer Ghulam Rasool, and other leaders. They chanted slogans against Israeli brutality and in support of the Palestinian people. Addressing the crowd, speakers strongly condemned Israeli aggression and criticized the rulers of the Muslim Ummah for their silence.

They stated that the continued indifference of Muslim leaders, including those in Pakistan, toward the atrocities committed in Palestine is shameful. They argued that just as the United States openly supports Israel in its actions, Muslim rulers should also stand united against Israeli aggression and use the collective resources of the Muslim world to oppose the oppression. The speakers declared that jihad against Israel has become obligatory and that turning away from this obligation is a grave sin.

Through a resolution, the protesters announced a complete boycott of Israeli products and those of its supporters. Organized by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Landi Kotal chapter on the call of the party’s central leadership, the rally was attended by numerous party workers and members of civil society.

The participants carried banners inscribed with slogans in support of the Palestinian people and waved Palestinian flags while chanting slogans against the atrocities committed by Israeli forces. Speaking on the occasion, JI Landi Kotal Ameer Murad Hussein Afridi, Abdur Rauf Shinwari, and Imam of Quba Mosque Maulana Rehmatullah strongly condemned Israeli aggression and emphasized the urgent need for unity among Muslim nations. They questioned whether any honor or courage remained among Muslim rulers to stand against Israeli barbarism in Palestine.

They said that the true face of the so-called civilized Western powers and the Muslim regimes supporting Israel had been exposed. “Those betraying the Ummah by collaborating with Israel are causing irreparable harm, and it is the collective responsibility of the Muslim world to raise its voice for Al-Quds and the Palestinian people,” they added. It is worth mentioning that hundreds of Palestinians have been martyred and thousands injured in aerial strikes launched by Israel between March 18 and April 9, 2025.
