A protest and human chain were organized by students, teachers, and locals of Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district on Sunday, demanding justice for the murder of a college student. The protest took place at 1:30 PM in front of Phulbari Degree College gate, where participants demanded the arrest and punishment of the perpetrators. Hamidul, a third-year degree student of the college and resident of Dakshin Nagarajpur village in Bhanga Mor union, was brutally killed on the night of November 4 by a group of assailants disguised as robbers.
After the human chain, a memorandum was submitted to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and the Officer-in-Charge of Phulbari Police Station. The college principal, Aminul Islam, addressed the gathering, along with Assistant Professor Azad Hossain, lecturers Arabur Rahman and Zakaria Mia, and first-year degree student Sujon Mia. Despite 20 days passing since the tragic incident, the police have yet to uncover the motives or identify the culprits behind Hamidul's murder.
