
Surat: Rander police busted a prostitution racket running from a spa and rescued six foreign women — five from Thailand and one from Laos. Police also detained four customers, including a minor. Seven persons have been booked, including a manager and the prime accused, Honey and Abhay Salunke, who were allegedly running the racket by arranging the women and sending them customers.
Head constable Mahendrasinh Pravinsinh, who works with the Sector 2 JCP reader branch, received information that a prostitution racket was operating at FA Wellness Centre in V-Square Complex under the guise of a spa. Rander police raided the centre on Sunday evening and found one Rosha Singh handling the centre, at the instruction of Honey and Abhay Salunkhe. Police found foreign women in six rooms along with four customers, including a 17-year-old boy.
Singh told police that Honey and Abhay had hired the women. They would send them customers who were charged Rs 5,000, while Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 was given to the women. All the women lived in rented properties in Magdalla village.
Police seized mobiles, cash, condoms, a DVR and other items worth Rs. 1.46 lakh.
They are also examining the passports of the foreign nationals to check their visa validity. Police have booked all the accused under BNS and the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.
