According to C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald, Jalen Milroe — former starting quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide — has had “conversations” with the Miami Dolphins at the Reese’s Senior Bowl ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft , and that those conversations “went well.” Smalls II would go on to add that when asked if he could see himself in Miami, the Alabama quarterback responded by saying, “ Definitely.

Whatever team that I’m blessed to be a part of, I’ll utilize the opportunity. ” The Miami Dolphins recently signed another prominent Crimson Tide quarterback to a massive extension — giving 2020 first round pick Tua Tagovailoa a four-year, $212.4 million extension ahead of the 2024 season.

If Milroe were to be drafted by the Dolphins during the 2025 NFL Draft, it would be as a backup — at least initially. The Dolphins are rumored to be very interested in investing significantly in the backup quarterback position this upcoming offseason — something that feels like a necessity considering the lengthy injury history that hangs over Tagovailoa’s head like a black cloud. Some have argued that they should sign a veteran backup quarterback like Andy Dalton or Joe Flacco in free agency, while also drafting and developing a youngster in the draft.

During his time in Tuscaloosa, Milroe completed 426 of 663 passes for 6,016 yards and 45 touchdowns. He also contributed mightily on the ground — running the ball 375 times for 1,577 yards and 33 scores. If drafted by Miami, Milroe could figure to be a solution to the short-yardage problem that has plagued the Dolphins during head coach Mike McDaniel’s tenure with the the club.

The 2025 NFL Draft will be held in Green Bay, Wisconsin over four days in late April — starting on Thursday, April 24th and running through Saturday, April 26th. We will continue to keep you updated with all of the Dolphins news until then..
