At the press conference of Bhool Chuk Maaf , Dinesh mentioned it’s time one needs to think ‘Indian’. The film producer, who is basking in the success of his current slate of films such as Stree 2 and Chhaava, said the Indian audience isn’t “aspirational to the West". Speaking at the press conference, Dinesh Vijan spoke about what’s keeping him afloat at a time when the entire Hindi film industry is going through a dry spell.

He said, “It’s very important to wish for everyone to do well. Just us doing well is not enough. I can’t tell you what I am doing and others are not doing.

We learn from whatever we are doing. We are trying to understand that right now, we are not aspirational to the West, we are very Indian in how we think. The common man wants stories about them.

They are coming to the theatre on Friday, a slightly elitist crowd is coming 8-9 days later. The people we are with and surrounded by is very important because they are going to influence the decision you make." The film producer then spoke about preseting stories to a “new Bharat".

“I am fortunate that my writers and directors are grounded and real people and are connected to the new Bharat. It is very important to know who we are because the new Bharat is proud of who they are," he shared. Dinesh further pointed out the difference between us and other countries.

“We have a conscience and a very strong one. Karma comes from here," he stated, adding that there is a treasure of stories waiting to be unearthed in our country. Dinesh Vijan is currently bankrolling Bhool Chukh Maaf, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Set in Varanasi, the film merges time loop and a chaotic Indian wedding. Last year, he announced his current lineup of films with their release dates from his horror comedy universe, leaving fans excited..
