Within just a few days after he went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auctions, the struggle Prithvi Shaw has been facing continued on December 3rd, as the Mumbai batter saw the second dismissal for a duck in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. During his fourth outing in the domestic white-ball tournament since him going unsold in the auctions, Prithvi Shaw did not make any significant impact in the Mumbai’s scoreboard, as he got dismissed fora duck in the third ball of the opening over. He previously also got dismissed for a duck, which happened in the match against Hyderabad on November 27.

The past few months have been harsh for the former U-19 World Cup-winning captain. Earlier in October, he got dropped from Mumbai’s team for the Ranji Trophy as he was reportedly overweight. He then however got a chance to prove himself as selectors decided him to pick him for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, but there he also got dismissed for a three-ball duck in the first match against Maharashtra.

Between all this, Prithvi Shaw got released by Delhi Capitals before the IPL 2025 auctions, which broke their six-year association. Then no franchise was attracted enough to bid for him, even though he had set his price to Rs. 75 lakh from Rs.

2 crore. Prithvi was a name which was on the lips of every follower of Indian cricket less than a decade ago. If there was any news other than the national team in the country, it was about Shaw showing his powers in domestic cricket.

However, Prithvi’s career took a sharp downhill, which is quite similar to that of Vinod Kambli. The only difference is that the Mumbai batter can still get some help from the experts of the game..
