Prince William and Kate Middleton are known for their down-to-earth nature despite their Royal status , a trait that extends to the future King's choice of hot beverage. Contrary to what Royal enthusiasts might expect, William doesn't start his day with an elaborate cup of tea served in fine china, says Arthur Gautier from Nio Teas, a premium brand specialising in Japanese green teas. Speaking to Luxurious magazine, he revealed that each Royal has their preferred drink, and William opts for a robust, straightforward cuppa to fuel his busy schedule of Royal duties.
"I imagine that he starts the day with a hearty mug of English Breakfast while prepping for royal duties (or chasing after the kids! )" Arthur told the magazine, suggesting it's the ideal choice for someone requiring energy and focus. The Prince himself has disclosed that he only drinks tea - not coffee - which he takes with a dash of milk and sugar. In 2022, during a Royal engagement, William shared his daily diet when he completed a nutrition sheet, reports the Mirror .
He revealed that his morning begins with two eggs and wholemeal toast with butter, accompanied by a glass of apple juice and a cup of tea. He mentioned that he sweetens his tea with sugar - though he confessed he's 'trying to cut down' - and typically consumes around three cups a day "to keep him going". Prince William's down-to-earth habits extend beyond his Royal duties, as it was revealed that he and his wife Kate enjoy a cosy night in with a takeaway.
During a 2017 interview with BBC Radio 1, Kate shared her favourite takeaway dish: "Curry, definitely," she said. She also clarified that they don't usually have the food delivered to the palace but instead pick it up - not personally, of course. While Kate enjoys spicy food, William prefers milder dishes.
In a 2020 podcast with footballer Peter Crouch, he confessed he's "not a vindaloo man put it that way" and prefers a chicken tikka masala. He's also a fan of Nandos, introduced to him by his police protection officer. Other members of the Royal family, including the late Queen, are known to enjoy takeaways.
It was revealed that when staying at Balmoral, her beloved Scottish retreat, she would often order fish and chips and send a footman to collect it from the local town of Ballater.
