Prince William has revealed his latest obsession as he appears in new documentary about his Earthshot eco-prize. The Earthshot Report is airing on BBC1 at 5pm today [December 15] and features chats with previous finalists of William's Earthshot Prize. Each year, five of the finalists get £1million towards their innovation to repair the planet.
During the upcoming programme, the Prince of Wales will reveal he has a new obsession with seaweed. The 42-year-old tells host Hannah Waddingham: "It draws down carbon, it cleans the oceans, it has a natural cleansing solution that takes the pollutants and toxins out of the water." According to X, The Earthshot Report will "showcase the environmental solutions the competition has inspired around the globe, offering a “dose of urgent optimism".
In the lead-up to the release of the documentary, a trailer was released on social media for royal fans to catch a glimpse of what to expect. In a trailer, which was released on the Earthshot Prize’s social media account, William is seen standing in a forest holding an umbrella. He can be heard saying: "Our planet needs our help and every year counts.
So what have we achieved in 2024?" Founded in 2020, Earthshot Prize aims to discover and scale up groundbreaking solutions to repair the planet. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani - who travelled to the UK for a state visit earlier this month - will appear in a special introduction to the documentary. William's new documentary comes just days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their new series on Netflix, Polo .
