Prince Harry's bitter feud with the Royal Family has left many of his relationships with members of the Firm hanging by a string. However, it seems that despite the bitter rift, there is one royal who has become a key ally for both Harry and wife Meghan Markle - and is believed to be one of the only ones to visit them at their home in Montecito. Princess Eugenie has always been close to her older cousin Harry and it is reported that the Sussexes have bought a holiday property in Portugal close to a house owned by Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank.
And with Harry and Eugenie's bond still seemingly close, one royal expert believes she could prove to be key in encouraging reconciliation between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family . Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! : "Eugenie undoubtedly does have something of a challenge on her hands to maintain good relationships with both Harry and Meghan - and the rest of the Royal Family. "But I think the King is probably happy that Harry still has at least one royal cousin he clearly trusts, and presumably wants to see more of.
The family are all so busy that they don’t really see that much of one another." And Jennie believes that Eugenie could also prove a useful ally for her uncle King Charles too. She added: "However, I think it’s a positive thing that Charles does have someone he can quietly ask about Harry‘s well-being if he is so inclined.
And Harry can presumably gauge the mood of the family via Eugenie. "Any reconciliation – which at this stage still seems unlikely – has to start somewhere and with someone. And that person could possibly be Eugenie.
.. but don’t hold your breath.
" It appears that the bond between Harry and Eugenie has been a long-shared one that goes way back to when they were children. Both their mothers, the late Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson, were close friends, who spent a lot of time together. They even went on holiday together with the children also tagging along, forming the basis of the bond.
As they grew older, the royal cousins hit the London club scene together and they were regulars at the popular London club , Mahiki, sneaking in the back entrance. However, insiders said that of all of the late Queen's grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie had the "most natural connections" and are the "closest of friends". Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan's reported new Portugal property purchase follows their departure from Frogmore Cottage in the UK last year after King Charles asked them to vacate.
This left the Sussexes without a personal residence in the UK, having relocated to California, where they reside with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet. Previously, the late Queen had bestowed the property on the Windsor Estate to them as a wedding gift when they tied the knot in 2018. They moved into the home as newlyweds in 2019 and stayed until their Royal exit in 2020.
The keys were returned in 2023. Prince Harry has 'key royal ally who King Charles can quiz about his estranged son'
Prince Harry's relationships with many of his royal relatives including his brother Prince William and father King Charles are rocky, to say the least - but one expert believes there's one member of the Firm Harry still 'clearly trusts' and could be key to reconciliation
