Not many know that Meghan Markle once gifted Prince Harry a tiny Christmas ornament that belonged to Queen Elizabeth. The Duke of Sussex was quite happy to receive the present but their son Prince Archie ended up accidentally breaking it. The incident that took place in 2020 was described in Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare.

Upon getting the gift, Harry wrote, “I roared. What the? Meg had spotted it in a local store and thought I might like it. I held it to the light.

It was Granny’s face to a T.” The Duke of Sussex decided to hang the ornament at an “eye-level branch” because it made him happy to see his grandmother’s face. Prince Archie, who was 19 months old at the time, accidentally broke it while playing around the tree.

“I heard a smash and turned. Pieces lay all over the floor,” he recounted. But what stuck with him was Archie’s reaction to the scenario.

He apparently, “ran and grabbed a spray bottle. For some reason, he thought spraying water on the broken pieces would fix it.” When talking about Christmas, Meghan’s favorite tradition to fulfill with her kids Archie and Lilibet is putting out carrots for the reindeer.

The Sussex family of four is expected to spend the holidays in the U.S. It is suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had not been invited to Christmas at Sandringham this year amid ongoing strained relations between Harry and his father, King Charles, and brother Prince William.
