The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were guests at the 55th birthday celebrations of their close friend Tyler Perry, held at his £23million mansion in Montecito on Saturday evening.

The couple were seen leaving the party around 11pm, laughing and smiling in the backseat of a black Range Rover. Joining Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, at the glamorous event were a host of celebrities including chat show queen Oprah Winfrey , singer Alicia Keys and actor Aaron O'Connell. Paramount CEO Brian Robbins and his wife, Tracy, who live near the Sussexes, were also present, along with TV personality Gayle King.

A local worker, thought to have helped with the party decorations, told Mail Online that there was "a lot of music, dancing and singing". He added: "Lots of speeches and food too. Everyone was having a lot of fun.

It was a good party. There were a lot of famous people but I cannot say anymore." It was also reported that a "male person who sounded like Harry was heard making a speech".

Harry and Meghan, driven by a professional chauffeur, arrived at the event around 7pm, and left four hours later with an unidentified friend in the car, reports the Mirror . They were also accompanied by a security detail. The celebration unfolded within the confines of a sizeable six-bedroom, eight-bathroom dwelling.

The celebration happened the day before Tyler's 55th birthday and in the lead-up to Harry's 40th milestone. The bond between Meghan, Harry, and film producer Tyler deepened significantly in 2020 after he extended an invitation for the couple to reside in his Beverly Hills abode during their transition to American life. Tyler, who stands as Princess Lilibet's godfather, has publicly praised the duo's union.

Reflecting on their connection during a September 2022 airing of the Today show, Tyler remarked: "They found each other, out of all these odds against them finding each other, they found each other. The love they have is really, really moving and I wanted to do anything I could to support them." As Harry approached the age of 40, in a first amid on-going tensions, the official Royal Family social media platform broadcasted a celebratory statement with the attached verbiage: "Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!" Accompanying this felicitation was an image of a cheerful Harry alongside a birthday cake emoji.

Subsequently, approximately an hour thereafter, the Prince and Princess of Wales own social media channel mirrored the initial proclamation, appending an addressal: "Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!" The gesture might come as an unforeseen olive branch, considering the lingering discord that is no secret to the public eye between the Royal Family. Royal biographer and Majesty Magazine's editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward has shed light on the significance behind King Charles' birthday message to Prince Harry. Speaking to the Mirror, she explained: "King Charles would have celebrated his son's 40th from a distance. Milestone birthdays are important to the royals.

Whatever upsets Harry has caused would have been forgotten for the day." She added that even Prince William set aside differences to mark the occasion: "Even Prince William wished his brother Happy Birthday even if it was through clenched teeth. He doesn't trust him, but together with his family, he wished him the best on his milestone birthday.

" It is understood that Harry spent his special day with Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, before reportedly setting off on a "lads getaway". Get the latest celebrity gossip and telly news sent straight to your inbox. Sign up to our daily Showbiz newsletter here .
