Prince Andrew 'in no position' to keep Royal Lodge as 'inheritance plan' exposed

According to one royal commentator, Andrew is in "no position" to leave the property to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The Duke of York, 64, holds a lease with the Crown Estate that means he can live in the property until 2078.

However, the scandal-ridden prince is believed to be facing mounting pressure to cover his own expenses for the maintenance and security of the Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor if he wishes to continue residing there. The push to relocate Prince Andrew, who shares the house with his former spouse Sarah Ferguson, has been dubbed the "Siege of Royal Lodge". It's understood that the father-of-two desired to preserve Royal Lodge as an inheritance home for his daughters, Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 34.



However, the ex-working royal, who withdrew from public duties in 2019, is facing escalating pressure from his brother King Charles to downsize to a less costly home. Beatrice and Eugenie are believed to already have an inheritance home through their mother. The Duchess of York is said to have bought a £4million home in Mayfair in 2022, reports the Scottish Daily Express .

Gareth Russell, a royal commentator, told GB News it's becoming increasingly unlikely for Royal Lodge to remain a future inheritance home for the Princesses of York. He stated: "In theory, had everything gone the way Prince Andrew had hoped, there would have been possibly two inheritance homes for his daughters." "But it's incredibly unlikely that that will be the fate for Royal Lodge.

Maybe Mayfair is the alternative inheritance home given that Royal Lodge might not be Andrew's for the remainder of his life, much less something he's in any position to bequeath to his daughters." Andrew is supposedly heistant to swap the grandeur of Royal Lodge for the more modest Frogmore Cottage, previously occupied by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Should he vacate, it has been hinted that the esteemed Royal Lodge could be turned into a commercial asset by the Crown Estate.
