Voters in Walla Walla and Columbia counties were favoring a $145,000 levy to cover upkeep in Prescott Joint Park and Recreation District, according to early general election results released Tuesday, Nov. 5. In results released after 8 p.

m., the levy was passing 66.4% to 33.

6%, or 99 votes to 50 votes. Jay Potts, the mayor of Prescott, said Tuesday's election results are very good and show the community's support of the Prescott pool and its joint park and recreation district. "The pool is a very important part of our community, and the park and recreation district is a very important part of our community," Potts said.

The money raised for 2025 — 31 cents per $1,000 of assessed property valuation — will largely go toward the Prescott public pool. District office manager Pauline Cordeiro said the public pool, 303 W. Second St.

, requires constant “repairs and upgrades.” Presented to voters every year, the maintenance and operation excess levy has passed in all years but one for more than two decades. Outside of Walla Walla, the Prescott pool — which turned 65 last year — is the only one between Dayton and Burbank, Cordeiro pointed out.

Per an agreement with the district, the YMCA trains new lifeguards, staffs and manages the facility. Between Tuesday, June 18, and Friday, Aug. 23, the pool drew 2,529 “swimming visits,” according to previous reporting.
