THE son of Premier League cult hero Wilfried Bony has signed for Newport County. Geoffroy, 19, has signed a deal until the end of the season with the League Two side. He joins the Exiles after impressing in training in recent weeks, having been invited to the club by Newport manager and his former Swansea academy coach Nelson Jardim.
Geoffroy is a striker and has a striking resemblance to his father, who is yet officially hang up his boots. Wilfried , 35, has not played since leaving Bolivian club Always Ready last year. His eldest child is following in his footsteps by pulling on a Newport shirt as the former Ivory Coast international trained with the club while he was a free agent in 2019.
