The basketball community is rallying together this Tuesday to show support for former NBA coach and broadcaster Hubie Brown. It was reported that Brown's son, Brendan, has died at the age of 54. He passed away unexpectedly this past weekend due to health complications.

Brendan's wife, Kate Brown, released a statement on Facebook regarding this tragedy. "It doesn't seem real to have to say this and I'm struggling to find the right words, but on Sunday Brendan unexpectedly passed away due to health complications. We're still in a bit of shock and processing.



He was planning on being at all of Sydney's upcoming events as her #1 fan, while still keeping on top of the NBA world, writing the best analytical reports any basketball lover could ever want. He cared deeply for his friends and family and we're going to miss him so much," she wrote on Facebook. Just like his father, Brendan Brown had strong ties to the NBA.

Not only was he a scout for the Knicks, he was an assistant coach for the Grizzlies. Additionally, he was known for his work as a broadcaster. He was part of the Knicks radio broadcasts for several years.

NBA fans are keeping the Brown family in their prayers this week. "I called a Knicks game with Brendan and we did numerous segments together. Was always super kind and supportive.

RIP," Robin Lundberg wrote on X . "RIP. This is awful," one person said.

“As a kid I was all around the NBA. I remember meeting Kareem and Oscar. Getting to meet them and watch the games really sparked my interest in basketball,” Brown said, via the New York Post .

“I loved the atmosphere of NBA basketball. You would think these experiences early on would spoil me, but it did the opposite.” Our thoughts are with the Brown family during this difficult time.
