Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 5: The Prakash Purab (Birthday celebrations) of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru and founder of Khalsa Panth, was celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion across the JKUT today. An impressive function in this connection was held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar, Jammu. A large number of devotees participated in the event.
The District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu extended heartfelt congratulations to the Sikh community and humanity on the Parkash Divas of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This auspicious day is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country by people of all sections of society, honouring the values taught by the great Guru. The celebrations saw the participation of people from diverse backgrounds.
Prominent religious figures, including Parcharak Bhai Mandeep Singh Mureed, Bhai Sukhpreet Singh Hazuri Ragi from Sri Darbar Sahib, and Bhai Gurbachan Singh Hazuri Ragi from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar, recited Shabad Kirtan, emphasizing the higher values of life and communal harmony championed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. They also highlighted the Guru’s role in protecting the weak and voiceless. Local Ragi Jathas and preachers also participated, reciting Gurbani Kirtan and shedding light on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
. Satinder Singh Parcharak while throwing light and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh discussed the contemporary relevance of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s messages. Ranjeet Singh Tohra, president of DGPC Jammu, besides throwing light and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh expressed gratitude to the administration, including the Civil and Police officials, PHE, JMC, and PDD departments, for their support and arrangements during the Nagar Kirtan on January 3 and the day’s program.
The stage was managed by the general secretary of the DGPC. A vote of thanks was presented by Ranjit Singh Tohra. Balvinder Singh, vice president, extended warm greetings on the occasion of Parkash Purab, emphasizing the universal relevance and acceptance of his teachings.
Singh expressed disappointment over the Sikh police trainees at PTC Udhampur not being permitted to attend the Parkash Purab and urged the authorities to address such issues with utmost priority. Among the political figures present were Narinder Singh (MLA South), Charanjit Singh (Ex-MLC), Ranjod Singh Nalva (President Minority Morcha), Balvinder Singh (Vice president Minority Morcha), Karan Singh Wazir (Chairman All J&K Transport Welfare Association), Ranjeet Singh and Harasis Singh (President and General Secretary Tankers Association) and others. All other members of DGPC were also present on the occasion.
