A misjudgement while merging by a Melbourne P-plater has resulted in multiple vehicles being damaged on the Hume Highway. Video uploaded to Facebook by Dash Cam Owners Australia shows the P-Plater driving in the left lane of the Hume Highway near Campbellfield, then attempting to merge in front of a truck travelling in the middle lane before their lane ends. Despite there being ample room to speed up and slot in between the truck it was alongside and the one in front, the Toyota Kluger isn’t able to clear the B-double and is instead tagged by it.

The RAV4 then ends up stopped on an embankment to the left of the road, while the Kluger comes to a rest in the grassy median verge – both pointed the wrong way. According to the video’s poster who was driving the dashcam-equipped vehicle, “everybody walked away from the crash absolutely fine, just incredibly shaken up”.
