Photo by Tony Caldwell / Postmedia Article content Environment Canada is warning of a “potent” ice storm hitting eastern Ontario and the Outaouais this weekend. The agency issued a special weather statement on the afternoon of March 26 for the entire region, noting the increasing likelihood of a “widespread, prolonged freezing rain event,” though the exact location had not yet been determined. “The swath of maximum ice accretion is still uncertain at this point, but confidence is highest for areas of central and eastern Ontario between Parry Sound and Kingston,” their advisory said.

Most areas could be hit by between five and 15 millimetres of freezing rain, but some could see more than 20 millimetres.
