Kathmandu,Oct 30: The contribution made by independent leftist politician and humanrights activist Padma Ratna Tuladhar to restoration of peace and democracy inthe country have been remembered. Hiscontribution to raising public awareness against autocratic rule andreinstating peace through his literary creations as a Nepal Bhasa litterateurwere eulogized at a programme here today. The Padma Ratna Tuladhar MemorialNational Foundation organized the 6th memorial assembly at local ShankhadharPark in Kathmandu.

Tributes were paid to the late Tuladhar at the memorialassembly. On theoccasion, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the late Tuladhar, who had amulti-faceted personality, was established as a writer, humorist and satiristand a politician admired by the people. "Weshould all, together, advance the right and positive thoughts that our highlyrespected colleague Padma Ratna expressed through writing or speeches from thepedestal of art, culture, literature and political movement," he said,recalling his association with the late Tuladhar not only in the course ofpolitical movement and in prison, but also in various fronts.



Tuladhar'sdaughter Sumnima Tuladhar described her father as a leader who always workedfor the freedom and rights of the Nepali people. Padma RatnaLumanti Guthi Chairperson Dr Keshav Man Shakya recalled the late Tuladhar'scontribution in retaining the democratic and the communist forces in the samefront during the popular movement for the restoration of democracy. RenownedNepal Bhasa poet Durgalal Shrestha was felicitated on the occasion.

Tuladharserved as the President of Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation. He alsoplayed the role of a facilitator to bring the then Maoist rebels to peace talksduring the decade-long armed conflict. He also served as the Minister forHealth.

Born onFebruary 11, 1941, Tuladhar died on November 4, 2018. (RSS).
