Portland residents can expect wet and slightly warmer weather ahead. A slight chance of rain and snow in the morning is expected to transition to steady rain. The National Weather Service forecasts a "mostly cloudy" day with a high near 50 degrees and east winds at 6 to 8 mph, with gusts up to 23 mph tonight.
"Rain likely" is expected over the weekend with a 100% chance of precipitation on Saturday and rainfall between a quarter and half an inch. Similar conditions are forecast on Sunday, with a high near 49 degrees. Snow levels, starting at 400 feet early today, are expected to rise, reducing the chance of snow in lower areas but increasing the potential for slush at higher elevations, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Portland's forecast for next week includes frequent showers with a chance of thunderstorms. "Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm" is expected Monday night, with snow levels dropping from 2400 feet to 1800 feet after 11pm. "Showers likely, mainly after 11am" is forecast for Tuesday, with rainy conditions continuing through Thursday.
